Weapons are for offense, but armors are for defense. This applies also in the world of Skyrim. There are many armors scattered across Skyrim, such as armor by the work of dwarves, elves, and humans. In this page, we will look deeper to the armors of Skyrim.
Dwarven armor can be found in bodies, chests and bosses. You will find the armor at around level 15-20. The dwarven armor look ancient and has a good armor rating. It features thick layer of armor, heavy, and awesome in appearance.

Like all types of armor, it can be found in bodies, chests and bosses. You fill find the armor much earlier if you do the quest "Diplomatic Immunity" at around level 9.
Elven armor are first forged by elves, and you can create elven armor in a smithy, but an essential ingredient that you need to create elven armor is: moonstone ingot.
The armor that you see in the game are most of the time worn by the Thalmors, usually when they are walking on a road carrying Nord prisoners with them. You can choose to fight them and obtain the armors (hard in a low level) but if you don't want to, you can find the armor in other place and other times.
In Smithing skills, the experience that you need is the same amount of experience as creating the dwarven armor. But, in my opinion, elven armors are weaker than dwarven armors, because it is in the category of Light Armor.

Steel armor can be found anywhere across the land of Skyrim, usually for the bosses at players at low levels. In the quest when you need to meet the Jarl of Whiterun, there is a chance that you might get steel armor as a reward for bringing him news about the dragon attack on Helgen.
Like all types of armor (except the unique ones), steel armor can be crafted in a smithy, and the essential ingredient to create the steel armor is steel ingot (of course, you need to have other ingots to create it, but the essential is the steel ingot). You can also enhance the armor once you have it with a few ingots.
Steel armor is powerful when you are in a low level, but as you get higher you might find armors that might suit you better than the steel armor, if you have the skills.

Orcish armor was first forged by the orcs. You can create it using malachite ingots, but the other requirement is if you have the Smithing skill of creating orcish armors. You can find the orcish armor in chests and bosses, and you will find the armor at around level 25-30. You can find malachite ingots in orcish camps and mines.
Orcish armor can be enhanced with a few ingots. The armor is powerful and it can be one of the most powerful armors if it is enhanced to its full potential.
