Gathering
Information from External Web Pages
Whenever
there is a reading assignment linked to an external web page, there will be
either a WebQuest to direct the reading or a list of questions and
topics that you should know after reading the external site link.
You should
use both SQ3R and Cornel notes as you read external web pages, exactly as you
should do with Mr. Walrath's web pages. When readings are assigned in Mr. Walrath's
classes, they are designed to help you understand and learn the topic being
presented. As a reminder:
- Survey: scan the readings, looking for summaries,
outlines, main points, etc. Make these the left-hand column notes.
- Question: write questions from that information.
Try to second guess Mr. Walrath's quiz or test questions. Add these to the
left-hand column notes.
- Read: in-depth. Take notes! Fill in the details
on the right-hand column on your note paper.
- Recite: This might also be called Retell... say
the key material and points, out loud! You might want to write this at the
bottom of your notes page as your summary as well.
- Review: A day after you did the SQRR, review
and see how much you can recide without your notes. If it's nothing, go back
to the readings themselves and do your SQ3R again.
You still
need to write a short summary at the bottom of the page, and again for all classes,
Mr. Walrath's reading summary policy applies. Visit this
link to review it.
